The autumn season is upon us and as the season changes, it seems fitting to share an exciting announcement with you. Our Beloved midwife Eva Lorenz, who has taken 2022 to birth and be at home with her baby daughter, has decided to remain at home as a full-time parent. We are happy for her whole family and supportive of her decision to spend these precious early years with sweet Quinn. We wish her the very best. We have been so lucky to have Miranda Wentlandt filling in for Eva while she was away on leave. As many of you know, Miranda’s family lives in Western Washington. They have made incredible sacrifices so that she could be with us over the past many months. As her time with us comes to an end, we want to thank her for being such a wonderful stand-in for Eva. We are grateful that she will soon be reunited with her family full time and will be continuing her work as a midwife in a practice closer to home. Finally, Suzie Anderson will be joining Wenatchee Midwife Service’s current midwife team of Laurie Braunstein and Sonya Chamberlain as their new partner this fall. Many of you already know Suzie from the years she has spent in various roles at WMS. We are thrilled to now welcome her as a full time midwife! You will begin to see Suzie around the office in the coming months as she is eager to transition into her new role. As always, caring for our patients is our top priority. Our goal to provide safe and gentle options for out of hospital birth to our community remains unchanged. Thank you for sharing your births and your babies with us over the many years. We cherish your continued support.
WENATCHEE MIDWIFE SERVICE & CHILDBIRTH CENTER
Empowering Families Since 1985
We believe that maternity care should be family centered, offering personalized care to empower and educate families through this sacred time in their lives. Midwifery care is primary maternity care for low risk, healthy, pregnant people and their families. The majority of pregnant people are good candidates for midwifery care and out-of-hospital birth. The primary commitment is to safety, while also providing holistic and individualized care.
Our midwives practice evidence-based health care. Safety and the health of the clients are combined with empowerment and education in this unique form of personalized maternity care.
The Midwifery Model of Care practiced by our midwives is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life processes. The Midwifery Model of Care includes:
Monitoring the physical, psychological and social well-being of the mother throughout the childbearing cycle
Providing the mother with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support
Minimizing technological interventions
Identifying and referring people who need obstetric intervention
Our midwives are highly trained in the skills necessary to diagnose and respond in the rare event of an emergency, with established relationships with physicians for consultation or transfers to the hospital if necessary.
POSTPARTUM AND NEWBORN CARE
